Park County’s WPLI Advisory Committee has begun discussing management and designation options for High Lakes WSA and may discuss the McCullough Peaks Proposal.

Points to include in comments:
- Enlarge the Wilderness: the Wilderness section north of the bisecting road is around 2,500-acres. The small size will make it easy to omit from the proposal and vulnerable to Congressional deletion.
- Consider naming the area “The McCullough Peaks National Conservation Area” instead of a “Special Management Area” ensuring the area remains in the BLM’s National Conservation Lands System.
- Consider closing or decommissioning the east-west portion of Deer Creek Rd, so as to create a larger contiguous Wilderness area.
- Mechanical transport should not be allowed in the Wilderness area.
