News from Wyoming Rising

Leadership notes:

This November, Wyoming Rising leadership was invited to meet with Jennifer Fernandez from Sen. Mike Enzi’s office to learn about the Immigration Service’s efforts to support and train local volunteers who can help people entering the naturalization process. If we take this on, we will be the only nonprofit in Wyoming to offer this kind of assistance.

Also, we were invited by Dakota Russell of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center  to participate in a brainstorming session with Wyoming Restorative Justice. Wyoming Rising chair, Ronn Smith, participated in the meeting and will report in greater detail regarding co-hosting an event with HMIC that would bring experts and local stakeholders together to discuss Restorative Justice.

These are just some of the recent opportunities Wyoming Rising members have been invited to participate in. Future events will include

  • A presentation and discussion on November 23 on climate change and the preparations that Park County Wyoming officials are planning. See more here: Truth in Action: Climate Reality and Rural Preparedness.
  • A postcard party on December 14, creating and writing holiday postcards to our representatives at all levels of government. Details to come.
  • The annual Women’s March in mid-January 2020.
  • The 50th anniversary of Earth Day and March for Science next spring.
