HB 236 – County officials-nonpartisan elections is a really good bill that was heard by the Appropriations Committee 1/28/25.

Summary: This bill seeks to de-politicize offices that have no need to be partisan. That’s good for our communities and our state – choosing the best person for the job regardless of Party. Here are the offices it would make non-partisan:

County Clerk
County Treasurer
County Assessor
County Coroner
Sheriff
County and Prosecuting Attorney
District Attorney
Clerk of the District Court
