When: November 23, 2019. 3-4:30 p.m.
Where: Heart Mountain Interpretive Center

What: Dr. Mary L. Keller of Cody will present “Truth in Action: Climate Reality and Rural Preparedness,” a 45 minute slideshow and facilitated discussion from 3-4:30 on Sat. Nov. 23 at the auditorium of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, 1539 Road 19 off the Cody-Powell highway. Mary is Associate Lecturer in Religious Studies and Adjunct in African American and Diaspora Studies at the University of Wyoming. Citing peer-reviewed science, she will present an overview of the causes of global warming, and a depiction of recent crises linked to global climate change. Beyond examining the seriousness of the climate crisis, she will consider opportunities for collaboration, mitigation and adaptation in a rural context.

Jack Tatum, Director of Homeland Security for Park County, will discuss the priorities of his office in securing and preparing the community for climate-related threats. This will be followed by an audience discussion facilitated by Ronn Smith of Powell, an engineer with experience in thermodynamics and climate statistics.
