Constituents of Wyoming’s congressional delegation can ask questions of their elected officials at a town hall meeting in Cody – even though the delegation won’t be there.
Wyoming Rising–Northwest, a nonpartisan group of Cody residents, have invited U.S. Sens. John Barrasso and Mike Enzi and U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, to a town hall meeting during the congressional recess this week. The three federal lawmakers have said they can’t attend, but the town hall will proceed without them. The meeting will be recorded live so that our congressional delegation can watch it.
Wyoming Rising–Northwest is not surprised, but we are disappointed, that the delegation is not coming. Citizen groups across Wyoming have reached out for several months requesting Enzi, Barrasso and Cheney host their own town hall meetings. “They don’t seem to want to talk to their constituents anymore,” said Matthew Link, leader of Cheyenne’s Wyoming Progressives who held a Town Hall meeting on April 19 that the delegation declined to attend.
The Cody Town Hall is planned from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday April 20 in the Grizzly Room at the Cody Public Library. People are encouraged to attend and ask questions about any issue on their minds. Bring your questions and statements and prepare for a lively but civil discussion.
