Earth Day

One of our missions is protection of the environment

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, we won’t be able to have a March for Science in April. Instead, we offer these online events for you to enjoy:

Wyoming Rising is stepping up to shine a light on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with a film festival through Earth Day Network, running online April 17-26, and an online climate solutions workshop running at 10 am and 5 pm on Earth Day, April 22, presented by Wyoming Rising’s co-chair Dr. Mary Keller.

Both events require registration through Eventbrite.

Earth Day Film Fest

Our Film Fest consists of international and national independent documentaries that educate, inspire, and connect viewers to powerful stories about social and environmental justice, wildlife, and nature.  Registrants will receive a link and a log-in code to watch the films for free starting April 17 through the 26th.

En-ROADS Climate Simulator

En-ROADS Climate SimulatorOn April 22, Wyoming Rising Co-chair Mary Keller, Ph.D., will conduct two interactive one-hour workshops (10 am and 5 pm) using the En-ROADS climate simulator which is a project of MIT Sloan and Climate Interactive. Keller is training as an En-ROADS climate simulator ambassador.

This simulator lets participants work through solutions to limit warming to within 2 degrees Celsius (3.7 degrees Fahrenheit) by 2100. Through an intuitive interface, users move sliders to simulate the implementation of policies to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

Mary will conduct these one-hour workshops to help people realize that climate change can’t be solved by just planting trees. Be sure to sign up soon because attendance is limited.
